Hard Rock Resort - Cabo San Lucas, Mexico
December 23, 2022 my wife and 2 kids were in the PDX airport waiting to board our flight for our vacation in Mexico that I had booked many months before. It had snowed the night before and the weather reports weren’t looking good, so to get out of the cold for sunshine in Mexico and a great water park for the kids had us all very excited. And then I get the first of many texts from Delta: our flight was delayed. The entire U.S. was experiencing freezing rain, and our plane and crew were having difficulty getting to Portland. Alright, we’ll be a little late to Cabo, no big deal. An hour passed, and I got another text - another delay. I noticed on the airport flight screens that cancellations were starting to pile up. And on the tv reporters were talking about a once in a decade ice storm that was causing thousands of flights to get delayed or cancelled. The family stayed hopeful, even after 6 hours passed and our flight was delayed a third time. But I was starting to fear the worst, that we weren’t going to be able to go on our vacation… to be continued…
